Book 1 - Absinthe Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
Present Day, Neuchâtel, Switzerland — Artemisia
Absinthinium has been hiding since 1883, content to live quietly as an antique
store proprietor in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. But when an old friend—a very old
friend—turns up dead in what appears to be an everyday, ordinary, human-variety
murder, she knows immediately that her old life has found her again, and things
are anything but ordinary...or human.
Formerly known as La Fée Vert—The Green
Fairy—Artemisia must embrace her previous identity once again in order to save
herself and her human friends from an ancient evil. But the last time she
unleashed her magical powers, back in the late nineteenth century, things ended
badly. Very badly. As in Mount Krakatoa badly.
With six millenia of
"street" smarts, she manages to dodge death, save the life of a
friend and keep several museums from burning down. But, as the bodies pile up
in her beloved city, she must get past her fears, find her former friends and
allies to defeat the darkness, before it is too late for the humans of
Neuchâtel...and the world.
Book 2 - Absinthe Without Leave
May
1883. Neuchâtel, Switzerland — Artemisia Absinthinium, or La Fee Vert, as she is known in the fairy world, has lived a fairly
bohemian lifestyle for the last few millenia. But when she gets caught up in
the all-too-human schemes of Paul Verlaine and his friends, all hell breaks
loose. Literally.
May 1883. Dutch East Indies — There's more than lava coming
out of Mount Krakatoa. Author Jules Verne has convinced Nikolai Tesla that he
can harness the energy of the volcano. When demons begin emerging instead,
things get hairy.
The fey must join forces with a motley cast of humans—from a
Baptist minister named Charles Spurgeon, who just might have a direct line of
communication with God Himself, to Impressionist painters like Monet and
Renoir, who have delusions of grandeur—to save the world from total
annihilation.
Book 3 - Absinthe Minded
Present Day, Neuchâtel, Swizterland — Antique store owner Artemisia Absinthium is
older than she looks. A lot older. And sometimes she forgets things, as we all
do as we age, like where she’s put her reading glasses or whether she left the
lights on when she leaves the house. But when she begins to forget the names
and faces of her friends and colleagues, some of whom she's known for
centuries, she knows something is very wrong.
When her human neighbors turn up
dead in an arcane setting, and Artemisia can't account for her whereabouts, she
becomes a suspect in the murder. Escaping just steps ahead of the police, and
hunted by an unknown enemy, she and her not-quite-so-human friends, pursue an
elusive series of clues in an attempt to find her mysterious enemy. But as her
memory fails, Artemisia can't trust anyone, not even her friends and former
allies.
As she travels from her beloved city into the depths of Lake Neuchâtel,
her mind slips even farther into the past, back to 3810 B.C., a time period
which may hold the answers she is seeking.
